Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a lipophilic monohydroxybenzoic acid, a type of phenolic acid, and a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). This colorless crystalline organic acid is widely used in various applications from organic synthesis to a pharmaceutical intermediate, as well as entering into the composition of various cosmetic formulations where it shows proven efficacy as antibacterial, anti-ageing, keratolytic, exfoliating, antimycotic and preservative. In addition it is used in high performance industrial applications including as a curing accelerator for polymers.
